Lola & Herbie Newsletter is looking for dog & cat experts of all kinds to uplift our publication.
We’ve released over 120 issues over the past two years, generating an engaged following of over 10,000 readers (and growing). We want to position ourselves as the top newsletter for pet lovers interested in pet education, news, investigative stories, rescue missions, and more through impactful journalism and research.
In order to do this, we’re looking for an all-star team of pet experts to contribute on a regular basis. This would be an ideal role for someone who has strong opinions on pet ownership trends, a great deal of expertise, and a knack for engaging copy.
We will likely take on multiple applicants. There is no guaranteed workload for this role, although the more quality ideas you put forward, the more likely we will be to request your work.
The Work:
We’re looking for someone to write roughly 500 word sections on specific issues in pet ownership. These could be timely, they could be based on your experience, or they could even be more creative (yet rooted in your expertise).
Email is dependent on engagement, so good sections will come equipped with well-placed links, video content for reference, and other media that readers would enjoy as they read your piece. We will design imagery and place the section into the newsletter.
If you’re looking for examples of the type of newsletter sections we produce, think MorningBrew for pets, the Guardian newsletter, or even the New York Times newsletter. The sections laid out in these email publications are similar in style to what we’re working toward.
Applicants:
Please reply with your name, resume, & 2 samples of your work.
In addition, please give 3 section ideas. This can be as simple as “The Truth Behind Dental Chews” or you could elaborate a little more. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you!
Send submissions to max at lolahemp dot com with the subject line “Pet Writer Application” – submissions without that subject line will likely be missed.
