AI/ML Engineers
Virtasant is a leading cloud consulting services provider. We heavily focus on lift & shift, cloud-native development, cloud cost optimization, and migration services. As a consulting company, we often are faced with the challenge to create an engineering team in a matter of a week or two. To do that, we have created a secondary support business that runs an engineering talent network and provides staffing services.
Our client combines the latest IoT tracking devices with cutting-edge software technologies to manage workflows and track equipment. They are creating an intuitive, cloud-based application to improve businesses’ ability to schedule, maintain, and deploy complex equipment configurations.
The position
This project focuses on developing AI-driven methods for a clinic to extract structured data from patient-clinician conversation transcripts. The aim is to identify and organize key information, such as side effects, medication plans, and codes, to improve data analysis and support medical decision-making. We are seeking a skilled AI / ML engineer to join our client’s team, the project aims to transform unstructured dialogue from these consultations into a structured format that can be easily analyzed, stored, and used for further medical decision-making or research through AI.
- Side Effects: Information about any adverse effects or reactions the patient reports during the consultation.
- Medication Plan: Details about the prescribed treatment plan, including dosages, schedules, and any instructions given by the clinician.
- Medication Codes: Extraction of standardized codes (likely from medical coding systems like ICD or CPT) associated with the medications discussed during the consultation.
Responsibilities
- 3-4 years of production experience – putting ML systems in production
- Advanced knowledge of Python
- At least one NLP/LLM project project in production
- Hands-on experience with deep learning libraries and frameworks (PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow, fastai, YOLO, …)
- Solid data engineering skills (SQL, data pipelines, pandas)
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with AWS ML services (Bedrock, and Sagemaker)
- Using LLMs and transformer models to extract information from raw text.
- A plus would be experience applying these techniques to medical data.

- Take Home Assignment (3-4 hours).
- Client interview II (A meeting to go through the Take Home Assignment)
What We Offer
- Totally remote, full-time (40h/week)
- Monday to Friday, Between PST and BST (9am-6pm, from US Pacific Time to British Time)
- PTO for local holidays based on the country of residence plus two calendar weeks (10 workdays)
- Long-term, no end date independent contractor agreement
- Payment in USD, by-weekly or monthly – your choice
