Senior Frontend Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Engineering team and work specifically with modern web-based applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in frontend engineering and be well-versed in the latest web technologies. This role involves working primarily with React/Angular-based applications to build robust and scalable user interfaces. You will be an integral member of a high-performing and cross-functional team and report to an Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

• Helping to deliver robust and scalable user interfaces and web-based applications for an exciting, fast-growing African Fintech platform.
• Extensively collaborating with the team on the requirements and their implementation, process improvements and domain analysis
• Implementing designs which realise customer value, focussing on quality through testing, automation and review
• Critical analysis of the applications you work on to identify opportunities for improved customer satisfaction and user experience
• Writing and implementing code that is idiomatic, maintainable and efficient
• Identifying and resolving bottlenecks, rectifying bugs and enhancing the application performance

What you must have:

• At least five (5) years of experience in frontend engineering
• Extensive knowledge of idiomatic implementation using React/Angular to build web applications
• Strong understanding of the RESTful API paradigm (GraphQL and Firestore experience is a plus)
• Well-versed in design patterns such as MVC and MVVM
• Thorough understanding and extensive experience with the implementation of automated testing
• Experience using system monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic) and automated testing frameworks
• Good working knowledge of Git
• Experience within an agile development environment
• Solid understanding of automated release management for web and mobile applications through the usage of CICD concepts
